  • Dissolution of Marriage
If you wish to begin the process to dissolve your marriage or if you have been served with a Petition for Dissolution of Marriage, we can help you navigate your divorce. We serve clients in Cook County, DuPage County and Lake County. Illinois now has a statewide financial affidavit that must be completed for all dissolution of marriage and paternity cases. Our office will help you prepare this accurately.
  • Child Support
Our office has many years of experience in obtaining child support orders, modifying existing orders, and enforcing child support orders for Dissolution of Marriage Cases and Paternity Cases. Effective July 1, 2017, Illinois' new child support requirements align the State with the majority of others that follow an Income Sharing Approach. Learn more about the new Illinois statute. Please call to determine how this new statute may affect your case.
  • Allocation of Parental Rights and Responsibilities
Formerly known as Custody in Illinois, Allocation of Rights and Responsibilities guides the determination of parental rights and responsibilities for your child. Whether you have been married or have a child from a relationship, we can help you navigate how to allocate your rights and responsibilities.
  • Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements
Our firm can help you draft a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement to avoid litigation in the future. Such an agreement allows you, rather than a Judge, to decide what your marital and non-marital assets are and how to divide those assets.
  • Spousal Maintenance
While Illinois now has a maintenance formula, our firm can help you determine how the maintenance formula applies to your case. We also can assist with maintenance review, modification, enforcement and termination.
  • Orders of Protection
Whether you require an order of protection for yourself or need assistance defending against allegations that are false and do not warrant an order of protection, we can help.
  • Equitable Mediation
Marcy Newman is a certified mediator who completed her training at Northwestern University. She also offers alternative dispute resolution so as a third party she can assist both parties in reaching an agreement without litigation.
